It is a Federal government infrastructure that was commissioned by the Buhari-led administration in June 2021. The Mobolaji Johnson Train Station is named in honour of Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, a former Military Governor of Lagos State between May, 1967 – July 1975.

If you want to visit this train station, kindly note that it is located in Ebute Metta and the nearest bus stop to it is at Alagomeji, Yaba. It is a very prominent landmark in the area that can never be missed due to its magnificence. HOW TO BOOK A TRAIN FROM LAGOS TO IBADAN 2024 

In order to book a train ticket at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station at Ebute Metta, Lagos, it is advisable that you arrive at the station in time, at least thirty minutes before your departure time so as to let you settle in nicely just before your train leaves for Ibadan. Also, it is advisable that you go to the train station with a valid means of identification such as your National ID card, voter’s card, driver’s license or work ID so that you can be properly identified before you purchase your train ticket.

Once you get to the counter, you will be required to present your valid ID card in order to pay for your train ticket. Please bear in mind that the train departs from Lagos to Ibadan twice a day on weekdays and weekends; 8:00 am in the morning and 4:00 pm in the evening. You should check your schedule and know what time is convenient for you to embark on your journey. If you purchase a first class train ticket from Lagos to Ibadan, you will travel in the 24-seater coaches but if you buy the business class you will likely travel in either the 56 or 68-seater coaches. Purchasing a standard train allows you to travel in one of the 88-seater coaches.

It takes approximately two hours, fifty minutes for a train from Lagos to reach Ibadan. Once the train departs the Ebute Metta Station, whether at 8:00 am or 4:00 pm, it will stop briefly some thirty minutes into the journey at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Station at Agege. From there, it will depart within minutes of getting to Agege and move towards the Wole Soyinka Train Station in Abeokuta and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Station in Omi-Adio, before its final stop at the Obafemi Awolowo Train Station in Moniya, Ibadan.

Train travel from the Mobolaji Johnson Station in Ebute Metta to the Obafemi Awolowo Station in Ibadan as we have mentioned initially is quite comfortable and the coaches are air-conditioned. You will be needing some thick clothing for the journey if the cold will be a challenge for you. Food services are not available to passengers. Please take note. When your train arrives at the Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, Ibadan, Ojoo main park is just ten minutes, while Iwo Road Park is twenty minutes away and there’s usually a less traffic here.
