LAZ OTTI MEMORIAL LIBRARY (LOML), BABCOCK UNIVERSITY
The Laz Otti Memorial Library (LOML) is fully owned and operated by Babcock University (BU), one of the most expensive universities in Nigeria currently. This school is a private university that is affiliated to the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church of Nigeria, and their library is currently rated as one of the best and most beautiful in the country. It was donated by Alex Otti, former Managing Director of the now defunct Diamond Bank, on behalf of the commercial institution which is now part of Access Bank, in honour of his late father, Pastor Lazarus Weze Otti.
The Laz Otti Memorial Library (LOML) contains approximately 67,519 volumes spread through all the disciplines. The Technical Services Department which is the backbone of the entire library and located on the ground floor is ever busy with the processing of newly acquired information materials before they are sent to the shelves. It also lists new arrivals and displays them briefly to sensitise users of their availability. The exterior of the library is very aesthetically appealing, likewise the interior, and the the library hall is very well segmented and fully air-conditioned.

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka Library is officially known as the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library. It was named after the First President of Nigeria Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe who also happened to be the university’s first Chancellor. This magnificent edifice of a University library is the second oldest University Library in Nigeria. It was opened in October 1960 occupying temporarily two tiny rooms in the Faculty of Education building. The University Library started from scratch without inheriting a previously organized collection.
It was largely nurtured during its early years by generous donations, notably from Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, whose donations total well over 12,000 books, parts of journals and pamphlets on many subjects. Today, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Library has about 735,157 volumes of books and about 99,760 bound volumes of journals, it also has special collection documents published by various governments of Nigeria and others from the Biafran and African Collections. The university is blessed with a growing collection of publications by The United Nations, Food and Agricultural Organization (UNFAO), and The United Nations Educational Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
