This article is about the top 10 best polytechnics in Nigeria this 2025 according to the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE). The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, is the regulatory education body which supervises and oversees educational programmes that are offered in technical institutions at secondary, polytechnic and monotechnic levels through an accreditation process. The board was established by Act No 9 of 11 July 1977 with the aim of “providing standardised minimum guide curricula for Technical and Vocational Education and Training” and it is their ranking of polytechnics that we shall abide by.

FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE (85.38 PERCENT)
The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, is ranked as the best polytechnic in Nigeria by the NBTE with a score of 85.38% and it is located in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. FEDPONEK as it is also called places a premium on the best possible education methods and places strong emphasis on practicals more than what is thought in theory.
The school was established on a temporary site at the premises of Government Technical College by the Government of Imo State in 1978 as College of Technology, Owerri before it was moved to its present location in Nekede. On April 7, 1993, the polytechnic was changed to a Federal Government tertiary institution of learning and was renamed The Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.
The polytechnic comprises of five schools which are:

The school is located in Ogun State, and it was established by law on July 25, 1979 and opened her gates to the public on November 15, 1979. The Polytechnic has since gained a reputation for educating and training students with the highest standards possible. This school was established in 1970 as a successor to the former Technical College, Ibadan. The primary function of the Polytechnic is to provide for students training and development of techniques in applied science, engineering, environmental science and commerce. The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is a State tertiary education institution located in Ondo State.
