NECOM HOUSE, LAGOS STATE

The NECOM House, formerly known as the NITEL Building or NET Building is a skyscraper that is located on the Island of Lagos. It is a 32-storey building that stands at a height of 160 metres (520ft), making it the tallest building in Nigeria. This building was constructed by Costain West Africa, one of the top construction companies in Nigeria and completed in 1979. As at the time of its completion, the NECOM House was the tallest building in West Africa.

CHAMPAGNE PEARL TOWER, LAGOS STATE

The Champagne Pearl Tower is a very tall building that is one of the five residential towers in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos State. This tall building comprises of 30 residential floors which is made up of 4 apartments per floor, a technical floor, a ground floor and a basement floor. This building was completed in 2017, and it is currently the tallest residential building in Nigeria, as well as the current second tallest building in the country, standing at a height of 134 metres (440ft).

UNION BANK HEADQUARTERS, LAGOS STATE

Union Bank Headquarters is located in Marina, on the Island of Lagos, and it is currently the third tallest building in Nigeria standing at a height of 124 metres (407 ft). The building, another popular skyscraper that graces the skyline of Lagos Island is made up of 28 storeys. Its architectural design was developed by Modulor Group and construction of the building was undertaken by CCMC International. The Union Bank Building was completed in the year 1991.

WORLD TRADE CENTRE (WTC) TOWER 2, ABUJA

The World Trade Centre, Tower 2, located in Abuja, and gracing its skyline is the fourth tallest building in Nigeria currently. It stands at a height of 120 metres (390 ft), making it the tallest building in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. This particular building is popularly referred to as Abuja’s only Grade-A office space, and is currently one of the eight buildings that make up the World Trade Centre Complex in the city of Abuja. It was completed in the year 2015.

EKO TOWER II, LAGOS STATE 

The Eko Tower II is the fifth tallest building in Nigeria currently, standing at a height of 118 metres (387 ft). It is a skyscraper that comprises of 27 storeys, located in Victoria Island, Lagos State. This building is part of the Eko Hotels and Suites complex and it was completed in the year 2016. It is consists of a mixture of real estate components including a Guesthouse, Medical and Social Centre, Parking, Restaurants and Bars and more. It was designed to serve as a summary of all of the property types within the Eko Hotel Strip, acting as a reflection of the identity of all the buildings in the area.

EKO BLACK PEARL TOWER, LAGOS STATE 

The sixth tallest building in Nigeria today standing at a height of 112 metres (367 ft) is the Eko Black Pearl Tower. The Black Pearl residential tower is a 24-floors apartment building. The tower consists of 84 apartments, which range in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms, with Duplex options, combined apartments and Terrace Penthouses. The Eko Black Pearl Tower was completed in the year 2016 and is close to the much taller Champagne Pearl which is a 33 floors residential tower with similar attributes to the Black Pearl. Both towers are situated behind two tennis courts, a swimming pool and other communal facilities. There are also parking available in all the towers at the ground level and basement levels. The Black Pearl Tower is one of the residential towers in the Eko Atlantic City.

WORLD TRADE CENTRE (WTC) TOWER 1, ABUJA 

The World Trade Centre (WTC) Tower 1 is the seventh tallest building in Nigeria standing at a height of 110 metres (360 ft). This tower contains 120 apartments, which range in size from 1 to 6 bedrooms, with Duplex options and two exquisite Penthouses and Pool Villas, it was completed in the year 2015, and as at the time of completion, was the tallest residential building in Nigeria.

MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATION BUILDING, LAGOS STATE 

The eight tallest building in Nigeria is the Ministry of Communication Building comprising of 30 storeys initially which was known as NIPOST building and was initially built to serve as the headquarters of Nigerian Postal Service. The building stands at 109 metres (358 ft) and it is one of the oldest government buildings in the country built in 1970s. It has since been abandoned by the Federal Government after moving the Capital of Nigeria from Lagos to Abuja.

DAKKADA TOWERS, UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE

The ninth tallest building in Nigeria is the 21-storey smart residential building in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, known as the Dakkada House. It was completed in December 2020 and it stands at a height of 108.8 metres (357 ft). It was constructed by VKS Nigeria Construction Limited under the administration of Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and is currently the tallest building in the South-South geopolitical zone which makes up Nigeria’s Niger-Delta region. 

COCOA HOUSE, IBADAN, OYO STATE

Cocoa House in Ibadan completes our list of top 10 tallest buildings in Nigeria currently, standing at a height of 105 metres (344 ft). It is located in Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo State and is the first skyscraper to be constructed in West Africa. The building was completed in the year 1965. The building is named Cocoa House because it was built with proceeds from cocoa exportation and also because there was a cocoa tree planted in front of the building just beside a water fountain. The building, belongs to the Odua Investment Company Limited.
